MISSION FOCUS

Cotton End Baptist Church is committed to the fulfilment of the mission mandate Jesus gave to the church to: "Go, and make disciples of all nations". We have a Mission Focus Group to help the church relate to God's wider work through mission and missionaries.

We have broken mission down into three general categories:

  1. UK mission.
  2. International mission.
  3. Caring charities.

Being a Baptist Church in membership of the Baptist Union of Great Britain has implications for where our first priorities are in supporting mission ministries.
For several years we have been able to sustain ministry through the support of Home Mission and we have been linked with missionaries through the Baptist Missionary Society (BMS). These are just two of the mission organisations that feature in our portfolio of mission support.

The Suffering Church
We share a growing concern for persecuted and suffering Christians around the world. We have people acting as contact points for Open Doors and Release International, providing us with information for prayer and action that can be expressed corporately or as individuals.
We also encourage personal prayer and regularly include mission in our corporate prayers during worship.

Through these prayer times we hope to be better informed and develop a view that is beyond our local situation.

Future Development
The Mission Focus Group is exploring ways to promote and publicise mission and to enable us to be a church that has a strong and dynamic response to world mission.
We actively encourage personal financial support and ensure that corporate giving to mission and charitable causes is included in our budget.
